Mr Pearce has more than 40 years experience as a business leader, business owner and entrepreneur in the pharmaceutical and personal care industry. His expertise covers the importation of raw materials and packaging used in manufacturing through to ownership of the manufacturing plant and brand ownership.
His achievement in the 80’s – 90’s included establishing and building Scental Pacific Pty Ltd from an import wholesaler into one of the largest TGA and personal care manufacturers in Australia. He subsequently sold the manufacturing business to the Smorgon family in 1994 retaining a rebranded import wholesaling business.
Following that sale Mr Pearce focused on building The Continental Group as an import/export trading business with a focus on pharmaceutical and cosmetic components and raw materials used in manufacture. Since 1981 The Continental Group has been the Australasian agent for Saint Gobain glass. These products are used by CSL, Hospira, Jurlique and others in the health and beauty industries. His customers include both ASX listed businesses and high profile commercial brand owners.
At the same time as operating The Continental Group Mr Pearce recommenced cosmetic and personal care manufacturing in 2000 purchasing a facility in Melbourne.
From its small beginnings Beautiworx Australia Pty Ltd became a significant player in the cosmetic contract manufacturing space culminating in a merger with a like-minded competitor in early 2014. Mr Pearce had responsibility in this merged entity for all operations which included relocation of the two businesses into a purpose-built site in Dandenong, integration of the two disparate cultures and this at a time the merged entity grew by more than 50%, becoming one of the three or four largest manufacturers of their type in Australia.
The entity BWX Limited was listed on the ASX in November 2015 becoming the best performing listing of 2015/16, and has subsequently continued its stellar performance.
Capitalizing on his lengthy experience in both pharmaceutical and cosmetic procurement and manufacturing, Mr Pearce was appointed to the board of Cann Group Limited the first Victorian manufacturer of medical cannabis, which subsequently listed on the ASX in April 2017. Cann Group Limited was the 4th best performing issue of 2016/17.
In November 2016 Mr Pearce joined the board of Probiotec Limited an ASX listed pharmaceutical manufacturer with over 250 staff based in Laverton Victoria. He assumed the position of Chairman and has overseen the share price double in 12 months.
Mr Pearce’s business portfolio is extensive and includes an Offline to Online (O2O) retail venture AusMart recently launched in China with more than 100 staff, a significant plastic manufacturing and exporting business in Thailand, and an audio-visual hire company in Melbourne and regional Victoria.
